Join Us For The 2021 Skills Canada Virtual National Competition For An Exciting Day Of Career Exploration!

OTTAWA, Ontario, June 9, 2021 – Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC) is hosting the 2021 Skills Canada Virtual National Competition (SCVNC), a one-day interactive FREE virtual event of career exploration, on June 15th,  beginning at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

WHAT 
This event will feature competition highlights and “learn about a skill” videos and information in 45 skilled trade and technology areas that are typically represented at the Skills Canada National Competition. You can expect to engage in many lively sessions and demonstrations on two stages in the virtual platform.  On the Main Stage you will find several on demand sessions including a welcome from the Honourable Minister Carla Qualtrough, informative Tips and Tutorials from Industry Professionals, a Women in Trades presentation featuring Mandy Renahan, CEO of Freshco (not the grocery store!), a live session with a Q & A featuring HGTV’s Kate Campbell and Sebastian Clovis, and much more. On the Essential Skills Stage, there will be two live sessions: one on Canadian Polytechnics and one on #EndSkilledTradesStigma with HGTV Celebrity Sherry Holmes. There will also be many on-demand sessions such as: Trading Trades featuring Skills Canada alumni showcasing their skills, an Essential Skills panel discussion with a focus on disability and inclusion, and many more. The platform will feature a fun scavenger hunt and trivia challenge where attendees can win great prizes. This will be an opportunity for students to learn more about the wide variety of interesting and lucrative careers that exist in the skilled trade and technology sectors.

WHO 

Skills/Compétences Canada, hundreds of skilled trade and technology competitors from across Canada, its 13 provincial/territorial Member Organizations, over 70 of their industry, education and government partners, SCC Alumni, HGTV celebrity guests, and government representatives, will be participating in this exciting event to inform Canadians about the importance of skilled trade and technology careers. Hundreds of students, apprentices, teachers and career seekers from across Canada will attend this virtual career exploration event.

WHEN
This one-day interactive virtual event will be held on June 15, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EDT followed by the Virtual Awards Ceremony taking place from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. EDT.
