Eric Bouchard explains the various opportunities available in the Canadian Armed Forces

My career journey

I am a native from Chicoutimi and I began my education in civil engineering. I chose to join the Navy at the age of 18. I’m proud to say that I’ve traveled to over 30 countries thanks to the Navy! I’m now in Quebec with the recruiting team to promote the Navy and all the career opportunities available with the Canadian Armed Forces. I explain to people all the programs we offer, such as our paid study program and our naval experience program. Having a job that allows me to travel is definitely what I like most about my work. Furthermore, the opportunity to meet new people and share my passion for my field with the young is motivating. I wasn’t sure at first whether I wanted to join the Canadian Armed Forces, or whether I wanted to be in the Air Force, the Army or the Navy. I soon realized I’d made the right choice!

Career opportunities
The Army Forces can offer you lots of different opportunities, like paid training, in many different fields, such as bodywork, electrical installations, welding and much more! You can also climb the career ladder quickly. Opportunities are truly incredible!

The importance of the Skills for Success

In this sector, communication is definitely one of the most important things to ensure the vessel is running smoothly. There are over 250 people on board, and everyone has an important role to play. For this purpose, we all have to communicate well with each other.
