The Territorial Skills Competition is a one day competition that serves as both a contest to test a participant’s skills in a public forum, as well as a qualifier for the annual Skills Competences Canada National Competition. As a qualifier, participants may be eligible to represent Team Yukon at the National Competition.
For one full weekend every Spring, Inuksuk High School, in Iqaluit, is transformed into a skilled trade and technology competition. If you are a skilled high-school student, a registered apprentice, or a post-secondary student pursuing an education or career in one an identified skill area, you are eligible to compete.
The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best in their field. Over three days, student competitors impress their educators, family, friends, and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition. From there, competitors could be headed to the WorldSkills Competition. Some medalists receive monetary awards as well.
Every year, the event brings together approximately 700 young people from across the province to compete in 45 trade and technology areas. The competition provides an opportunity for young Albertans studying a skilled trade or technology to be tested against exacting standards and against their peers. Students vie to win the honour of being crowned best in province in their chosen discipline, and for the opportunity to join Team Alberta for the Skills Canada National Competition.
High school students begin their journey with Skills Canada Alberta either with either a Regional or Qualifying Skills Canada Competition, or through in-school selection for skill areas not offered in their region. Post-Secondary students apply to compete, with a reference from their technical institute.
The Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies allow vocational and technical training students to compete in their respective trades. The students must first stand out in their vocational training center or college. They then must qualify from among the participants in their region to go to the National Competition.

Through SCNC, Skills/Compétences Canada promotes skilled trade and technology careers to Canadian youth. The Skills Canada National Competition is our flagship event and is an ideal way to connect with tomorrow’s workforce.
SCNC is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. Each year, more than 500 of Canada’s best in skilled trades and technologies come to SCNC to compete in over 40 skilled trade and technology competitions. At SCNC, thousands of students visit the competition floor and discover the exciting and rewarding careers that are available in the skilled trades and technologies through over 50 interactive Try-A-Trade® and Technology activities, by visiting exhibitor booths, and engaging with industry professionals.

Get Ready for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026!
The 48th WorldSkills Competition will take place September 22 to 27, 2026, in Shanghai, China.The WorldSkills Competition is the largest and most influential skills competition in the world. It represents the best of international excellence in skilled trades and technologies. Every two years, young competitors from around the globe gather at the WorldSkills Competition, with the goal of earning the title of world champion in their Skill Area. These competitors represent the best of their peers and have earned a spot on their country’s team through dedication and hard work. At the WorldSkills Competition, competitors will participate in simulated real work challenges, and will be judged against international quality standards.
Approximately 1,500 competitors from over 70 Member countries and regions compete in front of an incredible 250,000 visitors, in 62 Skill Areas representing these six sectors: Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Construction and Building Technology, Transportation and Logistics, Creative Arts and Fashion and Social and Personal Services.
