Event Calendar

Annual Provincial Skills Competitions take place in each province and territory every spring. These competitions are coordinated and implemented by Provincial Technical Committees.

Provincial Competitions are 1-day events and offered at the Secondary and Post-Secondary/ Apprenticeship level.  Gold medal winners at the Provincial level may qualify to represent the province at the Skills Canada National Competition!

The Territorial Skills Competition is a one day competition that serves as both a contest to test a participant’s skills in a public forum, as well as a qualifier for the annual Skills Competences Canada National Competition. As a qualifier, participants may be eligible to represent Team Yukon at the National Competition.

For one full weekend every Spring, Inuksuk High School, in Iqaluit, is transformed into a skilled trade and technology competition. If you are a skilled high-school student, a registered apprentice, or a post-secondary student pursuing an education or career in one an identified skill area, you are eligible to compete.

The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best in their field. Over three days, student competitors impress their educators, family, friends, and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition. From there, competitors could be headed to the WorldSkills Competition. Some medalists receive monetary awards as well.

Every year, the event brings together approximately 700 young people from across the province to compete in 45 trade and technology areas. The competition provides an opportunity for young Albertans studying a skilled trade or technology to be tested against exacting standards and against their peers. Students vie to win the honour of being crowned best in province in their chosen discipline, and for the opportunity to join Team Alberta for the Skills Canada National Competition.

High school students begin their journey with Skills Canada Alberta either with either a Regional or Qualifying Skills Canada Competition, or through in-school selection for skill areas not offered in their region. Post-Secondary students apply to compete, with a reference from their technical institute.

The Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies allow vocational and technical training students to compete in their respective trades. The students must first stand out in their vocational training center or college. They then must qualify from among the participants in their region to go to the National Competition.
