My Skills Journey

My Skill Area is Aerospace Technology. I won the gold medal in this category at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) 2019, in Halifax. My competition journey taught me a lot about my ability to manage stress, as well as my skills when I’m under pressure. I have significantly increased my self-confidence by accomplishing goals that I never thought would be possible.

Joining the National Alumni Committee

It is important for me to give back to the community that has given me so much through the skills competitions. I love seeing the opportunities that the skills programs can offer competitors, as well as representing my province on a national scale.

As a member of the National Alumni Committee (NAC), I’m looking forward to promoting Skills Canada and all of its programs. I would also like to practice my skills as a group representative and get involved with project organization.

Overcoming Career Barriers

I have wonderful memories of the times I stood on the top step of the podium as a woman in front of other male competitors. I found the image very strong for all women, particularly those who do not dare to launch their dream career because they lack confidence in their abilities as women or as non-gendered people.

Proudest Moment

My proudest moment occurred when I returned from the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition after competing in Cardiff, Wales that November. I finished with a low ranking, but I learned that defeat can be a very beautiful gift!
