Biography
Having a strong interest in cars and a sharp artistic side, I embarked on an academic path that enabled me to learn the trade of bodywork technician. I love the attention to detail, career advancement possibilities, and the opportunity to learn more every day. My career goals are to master the various components of the painter’s trade and see how far I can go with my knowledge and experience.
In my final months of vocational training, my teacher and coach Philippe Marcil encouraged me to take part in the skills competition. I won the gold medal and then competed at the Skills Canada National Competition. It was an extraordinary experience that allowed me to push my abilities to a point I’d never imagined. I felt that I’d found my true passion and my future career when I learned I’d be competing at WorldSkills Lyon 2024. My biggest task will be conquering all the challenges that will be thrown my way. I can’t wait to see the difference between the competitors from different countries in terms of techniques and knowledge.
Interesting fact
Dancing has always been one of my hobbies, and I also have a keen interest in the field of animal health.
Skills for Success
The following skills have been instrumental to my training process and during competitions:
- Numeracy: There’s a scientific/mathematical side to colorimetry.
- Creativity and Innovation: As an automotive painter, my creativity will be assessed during the competition.
- Problem Solving: Several factors can alter a desired result, so when a paint application doesn’t go as planned, I have to find an alternative solution.
