National Youth Forum
Held in conjunction with the 2012 Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC), the National Youth Forum (NYF) will bring together a diverse group of young adults, aged 18-22, representing many regions throughout Canada. The main goal of the NYF participants is to analyze Skills/Competences Canada programs and activities and based on their findings, report recommendations that will improve SCC’s outreach to Canadian youth.
Last year the participants made several suggestions such as improving the Skills/Compétences Canada Website in order to be more engaging and interesting. They also recommended creating a national alumni program to keep past participants involved with SCC. Following these recommendations, SCC is proud to announce that they have recently launched their new Website, which was designed by David Boivin, a former Team Canada Member and produced by OnTrack Design. This new Website has an updated look, is user-friendly and includes several new and exciting features. SCC is also currently working on developing a Team Canada Alumni Strategy.
At this year’s meeting, the NYF participants will be discussing the present and future marketing and promotional plans of Skills/Compétences Canada and focusing on several questions such as: How do we leverage our alumni? How do we incorporate digital skills, such as digital literacy in our promotional materials? What could we do better to enable us to achieve our mission as an organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies to youth in Canada? We would like to thank Cenovus for sponsoring this year’s National Youth Forum!
